Etiquette enables the individuals to earn respect and appreciation inculcates a feeling of trust and loyalty. The way you interact with your superiors, parents, fellow workers, friends speak a lot about your personality and up- bringing.Etiquette encompasses the things people are expected to do and say, or to avoid doing and saying.

With  globalization and technology bringing us closer to unique cultures around the world, it is more important than ever to understand why business etiquette is important. Business etiquette provides a framework within which people can operate as they communicate and collaborate. Attention to etiquette is a sign of professionalism and respect for others, and it can make positive impressions while building trust among colleagues. 

Adhering to a well-understood code of etiquette, makes it easier for diverse individuals to work together, focusing their energies on the task at hand rather than trying to understand the cultural eccentricities of others.

Etiquette is a code of social behavior within a social group. An example of correct etiquette is when you use different knives and forks for different types of food,  eating with our right hand if you are right handed. Etiquette includes dining, general, business, mobile phone, netiquette, travel, waiting rooms, standing in queues, even washrooms !  

Etiquette is protocol, a set of behaviour or rules you can memorize like a map, which will guide you safely through life.

Mannersare external behavior(especially polite behavior) in social interaction.
Manners are a way of doing something or the way in which a thing is done or happens. Manners are what you do in order to be polite, courteous. You say "PLEASE" and "THANK YOU" to show good manners.

You are not showing ETIQUETTE while doing this. 

If you are using the wrong spoon or knife you are not being BAD mannered. You are just not using the correct etiquette.

Manners are much more, since they are an expression from the heart on how to treat others whether you care about them or not.

Manners teach you how to value another’s self-esteem and to protect that person’s feelings. Etiquette consists of firm rules made by others who have come before, telling you to do this and do that on specific occasions.

Etiquette means acting with grace and efficiency, but your manners are yours, yours to use in making order out of chaos, making people feel comfortable, and giving pleasure to others.

What makes an image consultant different from a fashion stylist or acommunications expert ?

"You're an Image Consultant ?  Oh you mean you do all that clothes styling and all ?"

"So Image consultants will give me a make over, right ?" 


If only I had a rupee for every time I've been asked that ...!!!  Lets clear the confusion - 

How you LOOK, ACT and BEHAVE determines how the world reacts to YOU. 


A stylist may dress you  to enhance and flatter your physical body shape and may not consider clothes that make you comfortable or feel confident. They are more likely to suggest the latest fashion. However, they are unlikely to address issues of how authentic you feel  so its a short term solution.....

A communications expert will give you the expertise to speak well, pronounce the right way, make effective presentations, maybe improve your language and vocabulary. Yes, Super to do that !  And unlikely to address the areas how you feel about yourself which is reflected in the way you behave, speak, communicate through your body language on a daily basis....



Image management is akin to polishing a rough diamond so the quality shines through for others to appreciate. 
You are someone with hidden and unique qualities that may not visible at first glance
Image management is working on internal /external alignment with a more holistic approach for a long term impact. Image management addresses the overall perception which includes communication, appearance and behaviour. 

How do you change the way the world reacts to you ? Simple really - by managing your image.

You must have heard this one - It takes a few seconds for a person to form an opinion about you. 

Well, good news ! its true  - You could be at a social gathering or  a representative of your company at a business meeting  and those impressions you create while interacting with people will determine your success now and in the future.

How does that happen so quickly ?

It all starts with YOU. How do you see yourself - Confident? Shy ? Capable ? Assertive, Funny ? Happy ?  Reserved ? Nervous ? Serious ?

All this is reflected in the way you look, act and behave. Through your appearance, behaviour and communication - this determines how the world reacts to you. And this cycle goes on creating impressions, perceptions, image.

Now the better news  - Yes, you can change that impression if the first impression wasn't the greatest in the world.
